about cecilia

I believe art is created when the soul has an intimate experience with the Divine.

No matter the medium the creative energy can be tapped and amazing experiences take place.  For that is what I believe art is – a remarkable creative process.

World-renowned violinist Christian Tetzlaff was quoted saying, “Beauty is the enemy of self expression”. When taken at face value this statement seems abrupt, cruel even. Yet, when mined for the pearl of wisdom that we know is there it opens up to us an entirely new conversation.  It is this idea of looking past the axiomatic, searching for the sublime that I attempt to expose through my practice while encouraging viewers to become participants by developing their own interpretations.

I work with many different mediums and find joy in manipulating the obvious. I push myself to view the most mundane things in new ways and extrapolate on centuries old clichés while inviting the viewer to search for personal meaning and enjoyment through my work.
